Woofus Pet Spa

Woofus Pet Spa was started because there was a need for grooming services in town that were gentle and understanding of an animal's needs. In the salon the focus is on a loving atmosphere where your pet will be treated like one of our own. We use only the highest quality products and also offer special services to pets with allergies, skin conditions and other health ailments that can be addressed by a groomer.
While a focus on holistic products is important, we also chose to focus on being holistic in our methods of grooming. Kennel time is limited for all pets and most are done start to finish with little to no interruptions. Special care is also given to those pets with disabilities, age-related illness or discomfort, and high anxiety about the grooming salon. With these methods in place, we have been able to accept many pets that other salons have turned away and we can offer the pet and the owner a grooming experience that fits their needs.

I grew up in the country, where animals of all sorts were abundant. My Mom instilled a love for animals in me when I was very young and I have always been interested in everything they do. In more recent years, Marcus and I have had rabbits, Guinea Pigs, we still have our two trusty cats, and now, we have a new family member: Ella. I seem to always gravitate to sick, injured, or 'problem' animals, and I always want to help them. My nurturing personality and constant curiosity were the perfect combination when I set off for college.
In December 2008 I graduated from UW-Madison with a BA in Zoology. I had spent most of my time learning about animal behavior but wasn't quite sure what to do with my future. I sort of fell into a grooming job as a temporary plan and ended up really enjoying being able to work with dogs and cats everyday, and also use my creative talents. After a year or so in that job I began wishing for a calmer, more relaxing environment to groom, and we decided to take the leap and began planning for our own business. In April 2010, Woofus Pet Spa opened it's doors.
Being a business owner has allowed me to do a lot of continuing education to improve my skills and learn new ways to help the pets I work with. I am an active member of the Wisconsin Association of Professional Pet Stylists and also of the National Dog Groomers Association of America. In December 2011 I became a Master Reiki Practitioner.
Summer 2012 I began working on my Wisconsin Certified Master Companion Stylist through the Wisconsin Association of Professional Pet Stylists. I have currently completed practical exams on a Poodle and a Miniature Schnauzer. In 2013 I hope to finish this certification by doing practical exams on a Bichon Frise, a Scottish Terrier, a Cocker Spaniel, and an English Springer Spaniel and by completing the final written exam.
